At Peace, music plays an important role in our worship. Each year, an all-volunteer choir consisting of members aged 16-70 get together once a week for rehearsal and sing anthems throughout the Lent, Easter, Advent & Christmas seasons. For more than 20 years, the choir has been led by gifted members of the congregation and grew significantly throughout the years. With a strong connection with various schools of School District 63 and UVic School of Music, the Music Team thrives to bring inspiring but exciting music to the congregation and the community. With plans to continue offering the music to the congregation as well as offering young performers a stage to grow, choral clinicians have been brought in for workshops.

The Choir sings a wide range of repertoire, from Renaissance & Baroque music to Romantic & Contemporary worship music, both accompanied and unaccompanied. New members are always welcome, especially low voices!

Meet our Music Team!

Ryan Qu (B.Mus), Organist & Choir Co-Director

Born and raised in China, with a background in piano performance, Ryan completed his service playing training at Holy Trinity Anglican Church upon moving to Canada in 2016 and came to Peace in 2017, joining the Music Team. Completing a degree in Music Education, Ryan now works in demand as a choir director/accompanist, organist as well as technical support for parishes. At Peace, Ryan spent a large amount of time in the last couple of years building the choir, organizing various workshops & guest musicians to enhance the service. 

Mari Davis & Deanna Johnson, Worship Accompanists 

As long-time members of the congregation, this duo has served the congregation for several decades —- not only as part of the Music Team but in various other parish activities as well. You will find them leading services every second Sunday with their all-time favorite hymns, as well as in the kitchen getting ready for Fellowship time, Soup’s On, and many other events. They enjoy their time working with the Music Team and their work has been deeply appreciated by everyone in the congregation.

 Ariana & Kelley Hall, Resident Cantor/Choir Co-Director

This unique mother-and-daughter duo can usually be found leading services alongside other members of the Music Team at Peace. With their love and passion, they bring chamber choral music to the congregation every Sunday, taking various leadership roles in the parish choir. In the community, both of them can be found in various well-established choirs: Peninsula Singers show choir, Cowichan Consort Choir, and Ariana is also the Choral Scholar for Victoria Mendelssohn Choir.
